To All SMHA Parents and Players!
 
On behalf of the SMHA board, we hope you and your family are staying safe during these trying times.  2019/20 was a great year for our Huskies and it was very disappointing to have to end the season early due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  
 
SMHA and the Town of Sundre were set to host what would have been one of the best Alberta Provincial tournaments in the province in March.  Our Bantam Huskies had just captured the CAHL Tier 4 Championship and would have been a favorite to win it all.  The Town was also buzzing with what would have been an economic boom to local business but unfortunately had to be cancelled.  We want to once again thank all of the volunteers who put hundreds of hours into the planning of this event, the many sponsors who stepped up to ensure success and the coaches and players for working so hard to get to this level.  Without all of you, SMHA could never host such an important event.  We look forward to getting the chance to host another Provincial tournament in the future. 
 
Due to meeting restrictions, we held our virtual AGM on April 23^rd.  Thank you to everyone who joined us on the Zoom app and to SMHA VP Chelsea Thiessen for setting up the virtual AGM.  The SMHA board will stay the same for the upcoming year.  For a listing of the SMHA executive team, please click here.  Also, as a result of the current restrictions, our Awards Night is still TBA.  We will definitely get out information to you as soon as we can via Facebook and the SMHA website.  Stay tuned!
 
As we gear up for the 2020/21 hockey season, online registration is now open.  Click here to go to the SMHA website to register your son or daughter for the upcoming season.  Please note that there is a $50 early bird savings to families who register before June 1^st, 2020 (1 per family).  In order to register for the season, a $100 deposit is required at the time of registration.  A late registration fee of $200 will be charged for all players registered after August 15^th, 2020 so please register early!  
 
SMHA will continue to consult with Hockey Alberta in regards to the 2020/21 season and will communicate any changes that may occur as a result of Covid-19.  As of right now, we are tentatively hoping to start the season towards the end of September but will confirm once we firm up the dates.  We will post updates to our Facebook page and the SMHA website.  Please check back for updates!
